Alessandro Bonci Theatre
| Entertainment |
Teatro Bonci is one of the main Italian historical theatres. It was built between 1843-1846 under project by Vincenzo Ghinelli and is presented in exemplary form of Italian theatres combining harmoniously the admireable features of the internal space and the sober decorum of the neoclassical facade remembering Piermarini.

The decorative aspect of the facade is complemented by the bas-reliefs depicting the Bolognese gaetano Bernasconi, next to Apollo in the centre, also the Muses; Thalia, Melpomene, Clio Caliope, Polyhymnia and Terpsichore and some gods; Bacchus, Hercules and Venus.
Inside the designer has designed an imposing building with a wide audience area in the classic horseshoe-shape, four floors of twenty-three boxes, a gallery above and an interior enriched by decorations of Migliari Francesco Ferrara. The balconies and the interior of the boxes are covered with stucco Raphael shiny gold and the impressive ceilingĀ is entirely painted with frescoes and arabesque designs. The layout is perfect and functional where the theatre is divided into three nearly equal spaces; a spacious lobby with services, the auditorium and the stage of substantial size. Two large staircases leading from the public lobby to the higher levels.
The stage is one of the greatest in Europe, the acustic quite perfect: this made the 'Bonci' very appreciated to actors and singers.
